
Recently, the Center’s Board has conducted a search for an associate director. The goal is to keep the ICEED firmly focused with its mission and the personal linkage. Ms. Helen El Mallakh has been approached to fill the position. She holds double undergraduate degrees in economics and international studies (Middle East) from the University of California, Los Angeles, a master’s from Harvard University (Middle Eastern Studies with emphasis on economics), and a M.B.A. from Rice University. Ms. El Mallakh has been Manager of Political Risk for ConocoPhillips, involved in research at Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and undertaken projects with Saudi Aramco and Technip.
